From SAP Consultant To Global Halal Marketplace: How Mohamed Maaz Is Building IslamicShop.in Into A Faith-Driven Digital Ecosystem
When Mohamed Maaz left the structured world of enterprise consulting to build a faith-inspired eCommerce platform, he wasn’t simply chasing opportunity. He was answering a deeper question: Why should Muslims struggle to access Halal, ethical, and faith-compliant products in the digital age?
Today, as Founder and CEO of IslamicShop.in, Maaz leads what has grown into an award-winning global Halal marketplace serving customers in more than 80 countries across six continents—connecting Muslim entrepreneurs, artisans, and consumers through technology grounded in faith.
From Corporate Systems To Community-Centered Innovation

Maaz began his professional journey as an SAP Consultant at CapGemini, working with enterprise systems and global clients such as Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL). The experience sharpened his understanding of large-scale digital infrastructure, operational discipline, and global markets.
But over time, he realized his deeper calling lay beyond corporate consulting.
“With over 15 years in technology, eCommerce, and digital strategy, I wanted to build solutions that create real social and ethical impact,” he explains.
He first founded Matyoc Labs, an IT solutions company, before launching IslamicShop.in—what he describes as a purpose-driven marketplace rooted in Islamic values.
The transition from corporate cubicles to building a global Islamic marketplace was not accidental. It was deliberate.
“My journey has always been about purpose-driven innovation,” he says. “Connecting demand and supply worldwide while aligning commerce with conscience.”
Solving The Halal Accessibility Gap
The idea behind IslamicShop.in emerged from a simple yet powerful question:
“Why should Muslims struggle to find Halal, ethical, and faith-compliant products online?”
Beyond consumer access, Maaz also saw a larger structural issue: many Muslim-owned businesses lacked digital reach, infrastructure, and branding support to compete globally.
IslamicShop.in was built to bridge both gaps—making Halal living accessible while empowering grassroots entrepreneurs, women-led brands, and skilled artisans to reach international markets.

“We wanted to build more than a marketplace,” Maaz says. “We wanted to create an ecosystem.”
Commerce With Conscience
IslamicShop.in’s growth is not measured purely in revenue.
Commercially, the platform connects millions of conscious consumers with verified vendors. Socially, it provides small-scale entrepreneurs with digital infrastructure, mentorship, and branding guidance aligned with international standards.
Ethically, Maaz emphasizes that Islamic principles are embedded into daily operations.
“Transparency, fairness, and compassion guide every decision,” he says. “Whether it’s choosing a supplier or designing a marketing strategy, ethics are not optional—they’re foundational.”
Faith As A Compass
For Maaz, Islam is not an identity layer added onto business. It is the operating system.
He often references the Qur’anic verse:
“And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression” (Al-Maidah 5:2).
“That verse is a guiding light,” he says. “Islam reminds us that barakah—divine blessing—matters more than mere profit.”
Every partnership, product listing, and growth strategy is filtered through that lens.
Ambition Anchored In Humility
Under Maaz’s leadership, IslamicShop.in has earned significant recognition, including being listed among the Top 100 Global Muslim Startups, receiving interviews from Bain & Company, and winning the 40 Under 40 Leadership Award.
Yet he views these milestones differently.
“Success is an amanah—a trust—not an entitlement,” he says.
Ambition, for him, is not ego-driven. It is service-driven.
“Humility attracts barakah,” he adds. “Every achievement increases our responsibility.”
Navigating Challenges In A Competitive Global Landscape
Building a faith-centered brand in a competitive digital economy comes with unique challenges—from limited funding avenues to marketing constraints.
Maaz overcame these by focusing on excellence and inclusivity, raising investments through mission-aligned High Net Worth Individuals (HNIs) and demonstrating that ethical business is not niche—it’s future-ready.
“Halal and ethical commerce is not a small segment,” he says. “It’s a model for community and nation-building.”
Leadership Rooted In Ihsan And Empowerment
IslamicShop.in operates on three core values: Integrity, Ihsan (Excellence), and Empowerment.
Maaz believes leadership means nurturing people with accountability and empathy. From the company’s inception, he ensured that team members received fair equity—not just ESOPs—creating genuine ownership and responsibility.
“We celebrate purpose over position and community over competition,” he says.
To him, IslamicShop.in is not just a company—it is a movement.
Redefining Success In Dunya And Akhirah
Maaz distinguishes between worldly success and eternal success.
“In Dunya, success is about impact—how many lives you uplift, how many businesses you empower,” he explains.
“In Akhirah, success is about intention and integrity.”
He hopes every sale, partnership, and milestone leaves behind traces of khair—lasting goodness.
Advice For Young Muslim Entrepreneurs
His message to aspiring founders is clear:
“Start with purpose, not profit. Execute fast. Fail fast. Learn fast.”
He encourages ambition guided by ethics, reminding entrepreneurs that rizq (provision) ultimately comes from Allah—not just investors.
“Surround yourself with mentors. Pray istikhara before major decisions. Let your brand reflect akhlaq—moral character.”
A Legacy Of Halal Digitalization And Unity
Looking ahead, Maaz envisions IslamicShop.in as a global symbol of Halal digital transformation—proof that technology and Islam can thrive together.
“If our journey shows that faith and innovation can scale globally without compromise,” he says, “that will be a legacy worth leaving.”
In an era where digital commerce dominates global markets, Mohamed Maaz is building something different: a marketplace driven not only by transactions, but by trust, ethics, and purpose.
