Saudi EdTech Giant Noon Academy Acquires Almakhfi to Strengthen AI-Powered Learning Platform

Saudi Arabia’s education technology sector continues to consolidate as leading players expand their platforms through strategic acquisitions. In the latest move, Noon Academy, one of the Middle East’s largest edtech companies, has acquired Almakhfi, a digital learning platform specializing in Qudurat and Tahsili exam preparation. The acquisition strengthens Noon’s AI-powered education ecosystem while expanding its reach among middle and high school students preparing for Saudi Arabia’s most important standardized examinations.

The acquisition comes just months after Noon Academy closed a $40.8 million (SAR 153 million) Series B funding round, led by Wa’ed Ventures and Raed Ventures, reinforcing investor confidence in the company’s vision of transforming digital education across the region. The fresh capital has enabled Noon Academy to accelerate product development, expand its AI capabilities, and pursue strategic acquisitions that enhance its educational offering.

Founded in 2013 by Mohammed Aldhalaan and Abdulaziz AlSaeed, Noon Academy has grown into one of the region’s leading social learning platforms. Unlike traditional online education providers, Noon combines live interactive classes, collaborative learning experiences, and artificial intelligence to create personalized educational journeys for students. Beyond core academic subjects, the platform also offers courses in English, programming, robotics, and drone technologies, reflecting its broader ambition to prepare students for the future digital economy.

Almakhfi brings a highly complementary capability to that ecosystem. Founded in 2018, the platform has established itself as one of Saudi Arabia’s leading providers of online preparation for the Qudurat and Tahsili examinations, helping more than 250,000 students prepare for these nationally significant entrance exams. Through specialized digital content, structured learning pathways, and exam-focused practice tools, Almakhfi has become a trusted destination for students seeking admission into Saudi universities.

The integration of Almakhfi into Noon Academy is expected to significantly enhance the platform’s AI-driven learning experience. By combining Almakhfi’s extensive exam preparation content with Noon’s adaptive learning technology, students will benefit from more personalized study plans, intelligent recommendations, and targeted learning experiences designed to improve academic outcomes. The acquisition also enables Noon Academy to offer a more comprehensive educational platform that supports learners throughout their academic journey—from classroom learning to university entrance preparation.

The transaction also reflects a broader trend reshaping Saudi Arabia’s education technology landscape. Rather than competing across fragmented niches, leading edtech companies are increasingly building integrated ecosystems that combine specialized educational content with artificial intelligence, live instruction, and personalized learning experiences. As AI becomes more deeply embedded in education, the ability to deliver adaptive, data-driven learning is emerging as a key competitive advantage.

For Noon Academy, the acquisition represents more than an expansion of its product portfolio. It strengthens the company’s position as one of the Kingdom’s most comprehensive digital education platforms while supporting Saudi Arabia’s broader digital transformation agenda under Vision 2030. As demand for high-quality online education continues to grow, the combination of AI-powered personalization and specialized exam preparation positions Noon Academy to play an increasingly important role in shaping the future of learning across the region.

With strong investor backing, a rapidly expanding AI ecosystem, and the addition of Almakhfi’s proven expertise in exam preparation, Noon Academy is well positioned to continue leading the evolution of digital education in Saudi Arabia, helping hundreds of thousands of students access more engaging, personalized, and effective learning experiences.
