Saudi Arabia’s climate technology ecosystem is gaining another early-stage player as Remedium, a sustainability technology startup, raises $1.5 million in pre-Seed funding to expand its AI capabilities and build a broader digital infrastructure for environmental accounting.

The round was led by Kaltaire Investments and will help the Saudi Arabia-based company develop artificial intelligence and machine-learning capabilities across carbon management, climate intelligence and sustainability accounting. Founded in 2021 by Fawaz Abu-Ghazaleh, Remedium is building software designed to help businesses measure, manage and reduce their environmental footprint through digitalisation, automation and data analytics.

Turning Sustainability Data Into Business Intelligence

For companies, sustainability is increasingly moving from an annual reporting exercise to an operational and strategic requirement. Businesses are collecting growing volumes of information about emissions, energy consumption, water usage, waste and other environmental indicators, but turning that information into reliable, actionable intelligence remains difficult.

Remedium is positioning its platform around that gap. Its technology combines sustainability accounting with analytics and automation, helping organizations capture environmental data, calculate relevant metrics and produce the documentation required to support sustainability initiatives.

The company is now looking to make that platform significantly more intelligent.

AI At The Center Of Remedium’s Next Phase

A major portion of the new capital will be directed toward expanding Remedium’s artificial intelligence and machine-learning capabilities. The company plans to develop tools for physical-risk modelling, forecasting and automated document generation, while also strengthening its Climate Intelligence offering.

The objective is to move beyond simply recording sustainability information. By applying AI and machine learning to environmental datasets, Remedium wants organizations to gain more context around what their numbers mean, how environmental risks could evolve and where intervention may be required.

For enterprises, that shift could make sustainability data more useful in everyday decision-making rather than limiting it to compliance and reporting.

Expanding Beyond Carbon

Remedium’s roadmap also reflects a broader definition of sustainability accounting. The company plans to introduce dedicated modules covering water, waste and energy, expanding the platform beyond carbon management.

Each module is expected to include its own key performance indicators and document templates, allowing organizations to collect and analyze different categories of operational and environmental information through the same technology infrastructure.

That expansion could give Remedium a larger role in the sustainability management stack as companies increasingly look at environmental performance across multiple dimensions rather than focusing exclusively on emissions.

Keeping Enterprise Data Inside Saudi Arabia

One of the more distinctive elements of Remedium’s expansion plans is its focus on data sovereignty.

The company plans to invest part of the new funding into expanding its computing infrastructure within Saudi Arabia, with the goal of keeping client data stored and processed inside the Kingdom. For organizations handling sensitive operational and environmental information, the ability to maintain greater control over where data resides can become an important factor when selecting technology providers.

The strategy also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader development of locally operated digital and AI infrastructure.

From Deeptech Program To Commercial Platform

Remedium’s development has also been supported by Saudi Arabia’s emerging deeptech ecosystem. The startup previously participated in the NextEra deeptech programme, a collaboration between King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and the National Technology Development Program (NTDP).

KAUST has identified Remedium among the programme’s sustainability and climatetech startups, with the company focused on AI-powered carbon accounting.

That experience has helped place Remedium within a growing ecosystem of Saudi startups attempting to apply advanced technologies to some of the country’s most significant economic and environmental challenges.

Sustainability Is Becoming A Boardroom Issue

For Abu-Ghazaleh, the opportunity extends beyond technology. “The need for sustainability accounting is more relevant than ever.”

He points to a broader shift taking place across Saudi Arabia, where sustainability is increasingly appearing in boardroom discussions, public-private partnerships and consumer decision-making.

That shift creates an opportunity for technology companies capable of translating complex environmental information into data that executives and organizations can actually use.

Building Climate Intelligence From Saudi Arabia

The $1.5 million round gives Remedium the resources to pursue a more ambitious version of that vision. Alongside its AI development, new accounting modules and local computing infrastructure, the company is effectively attempting to build a broader digital layer for how organizations understand and manage their environmental footprint.

The next phase will be defined by execution: how quickly Remedium can bring its new AI capabilities to market, expand its sustainability accounting platform and convert its technology into meaningful customer adoption.

For Saudi Arabia’s growing climate-tech ecosystem, Remedium represents another important trend: the emergence of locally built technology designed not only to measure environmental impact, but to turn that data into intelligence.
