Saudi Arabia’s gaming ecosystem continues to gain momentum as FLOATY Studio has secured $1 million in a funding round led by Merak Capital through the Merak Gaming Fund (MGF). The investment will enable the Riyadh-based game developer to accelerate product development, expand production capabilities, and bring Saudi-created gaming intellectual property to players worldwide.

Founded in 2023 by Fahad Qaysi, Zeyad Almalki, and Abdullah Salah, FLOATY Studio focuses on developing casual and hybrid-casual mobile games designed for international audiences. The studio is currently building two flagship titles: Pirasea, a pirate-themed strategy game, and Hero Squad, a sci-fi action game where players assemble heroes to battle robotic enemies.

Building Global Games from Saudi Arabia

The new funding will support the expansion of FLOATY Studio’s game portfolio while strengthening its production pipeline and international publishing strategy. By creating original gaming IP rather than simply localizing existing concepts, the founders aim to position Saudi Arabia as a source of globally competitive entertainment content.

The investment comes from the Merak Gaming Fund, an $80 million initiative established by Merak Capital to accelerate the Kingdom’s gaming sector. The fund has previously backed promising Saudi studios such as Qwacks and Khosouf Studio, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing local game developers with global ambitions.

Saudi Arabia’s Gaming Ambitions Continue to Grow

FLOATY Studio’s funding reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to become a leading hub for gaming and digital entertainment under Vision 2030. The Kingdom has invested heavily in game development, esports, and digital content creation, with the goal of producing world-class studios capable of competing on the global stage.

Merak Capital said its investment demonstrates confidence in FLOATY Studio’s product vision and the growing maturity of Saudi Arabia’s gaming ecosystem. As more locally founded studios secure funding and develop original intellectual property, Saudi entrepreneurs are increasingly moving beyond being consumers of games to becoming creators of globally recognized gaming experiences.

For StartupMuslim readers, FLOATY Studio represents another example of founders building innovative digital products from the Middle East with the ambition to compete in international markets, reinforcing the region’s emergence as a serious player in the global gaming industry.
