Every successful e-commerce business shares a common goal: selling more products and delivering a better customer experience. Yet behind every online order lies a complex web of shipping providers, payment reconciliation, customer support, inventory management, and logistics coordination. For thousands of merchants across Africa and the Middle East, managing these fragmented operations has become one of the biggest barriers to growth.

Egyptian startup Fincart believes artificial intelligence can eliminate that complexity.

The company has announced an oversubscribed $2.8 million Seed funding round, co-led by Launch Africa and Antler MENAP, with participation from Yango Ventures, Five35 Ventures, Bluestream Capital, Hi2 Global, Kalahari Venture Labs, and several other regional investors. The funding comes just over a year after Fincart’s pre-Seed round and positions the company to accelerate its vision of becoming the operating system for e-commerce merchants across Africa and the Middle East.

Founded in 2023 by Mostafa Masry and Nihal Ali, Fincart has evolved far beyond its original logistics platform. Today, it offers an AI-powered operating platform that enables merchants to manage shipping, customer engagement, and working capital through a single interface. By integrating with more than 40 courier companies—the largest integrated shipping network in Africa—the platform helps merchants simplify operations that were previously spread across multiple disconnected systems.

Turning Merchant Pain Into Product Innovation

Like many successful startups, Fincart was born from firsthand experience.

Before launching the company, Mostafa Masry and Nihal Ali worked with leading regional technology companies including Careem, Glovo, Vodafone, and Delivery Hero, where they repeatedly observed the operational challenges facing e-commerce businesses. While online retail continued growing rapidly, merchants were struggling with unreliable last-mile delivery, delayed cash-on-delivery reconciliation, and fragmented software tools that rarely communicated with one another.

Cash-on-delivery remains the dominant payment method across Egypt and much of the Middle East and Africa. While convenient for customers, it creates significant operational complexity for merchants, who often wait days or weeks before receiving their cash while simultaneously managing shipments through multiple logistics providers.

Rather than solving one problem at a time, the founders envisioned a single platform capable of orchestrating an entire merchant’s operational workflow.

Today, merchants using Fincart can connect with more than 40 shipping providers, automate delivery management, access AI-powered customer engagement tools, and receive short-term cash advances based on sales performance—all from one centralized dashboard. Instead of juggling multiple applications for logistics, customer communication, and financial management, businesses can manage their operations through a unified platform designed specifically for e-commerce.

As Co-founder and COO Nihal Ali explains, the team built Fincart only after spending extensive time understanding where merchants were losing time, money, and customers. The result is an integrated control panel that enables businesses to sell more efficiently without stitching together numerous disconnected software products.

Growing Without Spending on Marketing

Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of Fincart’s journey is not the funding itself but the way the company has achieved its growth.

Since launching, the platform has onboarded more than 450 merchants and enterprise customers, serving businesses across industries including fashion, cosmetics, electronics, and accessories. Collectively, these merchants have processed nearly EGP 1 billion (approximately US$20 million) in gross merchandise value through the platform’s automated workflows.

Even more impressive is how that growth was achieved.

According to the company, nearly 40% of new customers have come through referrals, while Fincart has spent zero dollars on marketing during its first three years of operation. In an industry where startups often spend heavily to acquire customers, this level of organic growth provides strong evidence of genuine product-market fit.

For investors, those numbers were particularly compelling.

Lina Kacyem, Investment Manager at Launch Africa, described Egypt’s e-commerce sector as one of Africa’s most attractive infrastructure opportunities. She noted that Fincart has built a product merchants “genuinely cannot operate without,” pointing to the company’s referral-driven growth as clear validation that it is solving a meaningful operational problem.

Building the Infrastructure Behind African E-Commerce

The newly raised capital will be used to accelerate product development, expand both commercial and engineering teams, strengthen strategic partnerships, and further enhance Fincart’s AI capabilities. The company also plans to deepen its presence in Egypt before expanding into additional African and Middle Eastern markets beginning in 2027.

Unlike many software companies that focus exclusively on one business function, Fincart sees itself as infrastructure for the broader e-commerce ecosystem. As merchants, logistics providers, payment partners, and financial institutions become increasingly interconnected, the company believes artificial intelligence can serve as the operating layer that coordinates these relationships more efficiently.

That vision aligns with broader trends across global commerce, where businesses are increasingly seeking integrated platforms rather than standalone software products. Instead of purchasing separate tools for logistics, customer relationship management, financing, and operations, merchants increasingly prefer unified systems capable of managing every stage of the customer journey.

Fincart is positioning itself to become exactly that platform.

A New Generation of AI Infrastructure Startups

The rise of artificial intelligence has sparked enormous excitement around consumer applications and generative AI. Yet some of the most transformative opportunities may lie in enterprise infrastructure—using AI to automate the complex operational processes that businesses perform every day.

Fincart represents this new generation of startups.

Rather than replacing merchants, the platform augments their capabilities by removing repetitive operational tasks, improving logistics coordination, strengthening customer engagement, and providing faster access to working capital. As more merchants digitize their operations, these capabilities become increasingly valuable.

For Egypt’s startup ecosystem, Fincart’s success also highlights the growing maturity of enterprise software companies emerging from the region. The combination of experienced founders, strong product-market fit, organic customer growth, and backing from leading African and Middle Eastern investors demonstrates that locally built technology can solve region-specific challenges while creating businesses with international expansion potential.

With 450+ merchants, 40 logistics integrations, EGP 1 billion in facilitated GMV, and fresh capital to accelerate regional expansion, Fincart is no longer simply helping merchants manage shipments.

It is building the digital operating system that could power the next generation of e-commerce across Africa and the Middle East.
