Saudi Arabia-based gaming startup Takahouse has raised $1.5 million in an investment round from Impact46 as it looks to expand beyond its first successful title and build a broader portfolio of mobile games.
Founded in 2018 by Salman S. Nasser, Takahouse develops electronic games and interactive applications designed to combine entertainment with social interaction. The company is positioning itself not simply as a game developer, but as an emerging regional publisher capable of creating products built around how people play, communicate and connect.
From One Game To A Broader Gaming Portfolio
Takahouse launched its first title, WhistGame, in 2021. The interactive card game has since attracted more than 140,000 users, giving the company an initial audience and an opportunity to understand how players interact with its products.
That early traction is now providing the foundation for Takahouse’s next stage. Rather than depending on a single title, the company plans to use the new capital to develop additional products and strengthen the technology and capabilities required to compete in Saudi Arabia’s increasingly active gaming market.
For Takahouse, the objective is to turn what it has learned from WhistGame into a repeatable process for developing games that can attract and retain users.
Making Social Interaction Part Of The Game
The company’s strategy is built around an increasingly important element of mobile gaming: social interaction.
Rather than treating communication between players as an optional feature, Takahouse designs its experiences around interaction and connection. The idea is that games can become more engaging when players are not simply competing against a computer or completing levels, but communicating and building relationships with other people.
WhistGame represents the first example of that approach. Its user base gives Takahouse a starting point from which to test new concepts, understand player behaviour and identify what keeps users coming back.
Saudi Arabia’s Gaming Opportunity
Takahouse’s funding arrives as Saudi Arabia continues to develop a larger domestic gaming ecosystem, with local studios increasingly looking beyond the Kingdom for audiences and commercial opportunities.
For Saudi startups, gaming presents a different opportunity from many technology categories. Successful games can be distributed globally without requiring the same physical infrastructure associated with traditional businesses, while locally developed intellectual property can potentially reach audiences far beyond the region.
Takahouse’s ambition reflects that opportunity. The company wants to build from its Saudi roots and establish itself as a regional developer and publisher of mobile games.
Capital To Build What Comes Next
The $1.5 million investment from Impact46 will primarily support the development of new products. Takahouse has not disclosed the number or specific formats of games currently in development, but the company’s broader strategy is clear: build a portfolio rather than rely on a single product.
That shift will require more than simply producing additional games. Takahouse will need to identify concepts that can stand out in a crowded mobile market, maintain strong player engagement and develop a sustainable approach to launching and scaling new titles.
The experience gained through WhistGame could give the company an important advantage as it makes that transition.
From Saudi Studio To Regional Publisher
The longer-term ambition is considerably larger than the company’s current footprint. Takahouse aims to become one of the region’s leading game developers and publishers, creating products that combine entertainment with meaningful social experiences.
Impact46’s backing gives the startup additional resources to pursue that ambition while adding another signal of investor interest in Saudi Arabia’s locally developed gaming companies.
The challenge now is execution. Takahouse will need to demonstrate that the audience it built around WhistGame can become the foundation for a broader portfolio of successful titles.
The Next Level
For Takahouse, the $1.5 million round is less about celebrating the success of its first game and more about testing whether that success can be repeated.
If the company can turn its understanding of social gaming into multiple engaging products, it could move from being the studio behind WhistGame to becoming a recognizable Saudi gaming publisher with ambitions across the region.
