Qatar’s fintech ecosystem continues to gain momentum as SkipCash has secured a strategic investment from Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB), further strengthening the country’s homegrown digital payments sector. While the financial terms of the investment were not disclosed, the partnership signals growing confidence from one of Qatar’s leading Islamic banks in the future of locally built financial technology.
Founded in 2019 by Mohammed Abdulaziz AlDelaimi, SkipCash has rapidly established itself as one of Qatar’s leading digital payment providers. The company offers businesses a comprehensive suite of payment solutions, including online payment gateways, merchant acquiring, QR payments, payment links, Tap-to-Phone (SoftPOS), and integrated payment technologies. Licensed by the Qatar Financial Centre and regulated by the Qatar Central Bank, SkipCash today serves more than 10,000 merchants across multiple industries and processed over QAR 1 billion in payment transactions during 2025.
Building the Infrastructure for a Cashless Economy
Unlike many consumer-focused fintech startups, SkipCash has positioned itself as the infrastructure layer enabling businesses to accept digital payments seamlessly. As more merchants move online and customers increasingly expect frictionless payment experiences, the company’s technology helps businesses of all sizes modernize how they accept and manage transactions.
The latest investment from QIIB will accelerate the expansion of SkipCash’s payment infrastructure while supporting the development of new fintech products designed to simplify payment acceptance for businesses. The company also plans to strengthen its merchant ecosystem and expand into additional GCC markets through strategic partnerships, reinforcing its ambition to become a regional payments platform.
The investment builds on SkipCash’s successful $4 million Series A funding round completed earlier this year, backed by Qatar Development Bank, Qatar Islamic Insurance Company, KBN Holding Group, Finjan Venture Investments, and Doha Tech Angels. Together, these investments provide the company with significant resources to accelerate innovation and regional growth.

A New Era of Bank–Fintech Collaboration
The partnership between SkipCash and QIIB reflects a broader transformation taking place across the Gulf’s financial sector. Rather than viewing fintech companies as competitors, established financial institutions are increasingly partnering with innovative startups to accelerate digital transformation and deliver better services to businesses and consumers.
For Qatar, this collaboration supports the country’s broader vision of developing a modern digital economy where secure, efficient, and locally developed financial technologies play a central role. Small and medium-sized businesses, in particular, stand to benefit from easier access to digital payment solutions that improve operational efficiency and expand customer reach.
As digital commerce continues to grow across the GCC, payment infrastructure will become increasingly important in enabling economic activity. With more than 10,000 merchants, QAR 1 billion in annual transaction volume, and backing from both institutional investors and one of Qatar’s leading Islamic banks, SkipCash is positioning itself to become one of the region’s key enablers of the next generation of digital payments.
For the GCC startup ecosystem, the investment also highlights a maturing fintech landscape where homegrown startups are no longer simply attracting venture capital—they are earning the confidence of established financial institutions that see innovation as an essential driver of the region’s economic future.
